Coming up is a very important week for eyecare practices. I would venture to say that 99% of all practices have patients that abuse their contact lens regimes, have bought contact lenses online from ‘non-safe’ sources and have experienced eye infections due to contact lens wear.
That said, for the last three years the CDC, has collaborated with partners, and organized Contact Lens Health Week. This is a strategy to increase public awareness and promote healthy contact lens wear and care.
There are three messages that will be going out to the public:
- Healthy contact lens hygiene habits
- Proper use, care, and storage of contact lenses and supplies
- Regular visits to an eye care provider
