I ran across these fun ‘sunglass sculptures presented by LOGO Projects is a non-profit program dedicated to matching artists and curators with professional business spaces. The program was founded by Kharis Kennedy, a New York-based artist, and Dr. Kevin Stewart. Dr. Stewart, a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist from New York, relocated to Miami in 2008 to open Ocean Ophthalmology Group with Jesse Pelletier, MD, a cornea & refractive surgery specialist from Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
LOGO Projects in conjunction with Ocean Ophthalmology Group is presented “I Wear”, a collection of altered and reconstructed sunglasses sculptures by Barbara J. Lloyd.
Truly the last word in wearable art Lloyd’s pieces leave no stone unturned with themes running the gamut from “Beatles Madness” to “The Love of Cats” and proclamations of “50 is the new 30!”
Says the Lloyd about her work, “Art opens a window into my mind, allowing pieces of my subconscious to escape onto the canvas, paper or whatever substrate I’m using to capture the elusive bits. It’s the ordinary, utilitarian elements of life that inspire and challenge me to present them in a new and, hopefully, exciting way. I love to create a distinct atmosphere of mystery, whimsy, organic movement or the stillness of a frozen lake at dusk. If my art engages the viewer in a satisfying dialogue, I consider it a success.”
