Optometry Giving Sight Establishes “Circle of Sight”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADenver, CO (April, 2014) – Optometry Giving Sight welcomed members to its newly established ‘Circle of Sight’ at a special function sponsored by HOYA at the Vision Source Exchange meeting in Boston on April 11, 2014.  The Circle of Sight honors Optometry Giving Sight’s monthly donors.  Monthly giving is extremely important to the charity as it provides secure, ongoing funding support each month that allows them to make long term commitments to key eye and vision care projects around the world.

In her congratulatory comments, Dr. Mary Anne Murphy – the Chair of Optometry Giving Sight USA, said, “I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit Tanzania a few years ago. I can tell you from first-hand experience what an incredible impact Optometry Giving Sight funded projects have in underserved communities. Whether it’s students who are studying to become optometrists, local ECPs who are gaining training and resources to run their businesses, or people who are gaining access to the eye care they need – it is wonderful to know that our monthly donations make all this happen.”

Dr. Bobby and Mrs. Jayne Christensen were honored at the reception as the 2014 Philanthropists of the Year.

Also recognized were:

  • Practice of the Year – Dr. Donald Matsumoto and Dr. Randall Yumori, Pacific Eyecare,
  • World Sight Day Challenge Outstanding Contribution – Dr. Moes Nasser
  • World Sight Day Challenge Outstanding Contribution – Dr. Gordon and Mrs. Denise Price

“We are delighted to recognize these generous individuals,” said Dr. Murphy. “Their outstanding contributions are an inspiration for us all.”
