October is National Dyslexia Month

With October being National Dyslexia month we thought we would bring a little attention to Dyslexia. According to the National Insitute of Learning Development:

It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and / or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge.

It is said that up to 20% of the population has some form of Dyslexia and that may include famous people such as:

Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Winston Churchill, sylvester Stallone, Cher,Pablo Picasso, Henry Winkler, Orlando Bloom, Patrick Dempsey, Tom Cruise, Kiera Knightley, Bruce Jenner, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jay Leno, Anderson Cooper, Whoopi Goldberg, Justin Timberlake

This just goes to show us that Dyslexia doesnt have to slow anyone down!
