NIDEK supports the reconstruction of a Nepal school

A longtime partner of Santinelli International, NIDEK, the global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of ophthalmic equipment, announced the reconstruction of the Shree Kalika Secondary School Sundawati, Nepal on October, 28th 2017.

Originally built with the support of NIDEK in 2001, NIDEK began supporting the reconstruction of the school, after the Nepal earthquake in 2015 which completely demolished the building. After the collapse, the school continued operation in a temporary building equipped with only a roof and no hope for reconstruction. NIDEK decided to respond to the request from the local people and support the rebuilding in 2016. “As a company engaged in medical care, we will continue to contribute to the improvement of the environment for a healthy life for the people of the world,” stated Mr. Motoki Ozawa, President and CEO of NIDEK CO.,LTD.

On October 28th the school celebrated the completion of the project with its new, strong bones! The new building is constructed of reinforced concrete with an earthquake-proof structure. Last month, almost 550 children aged from 6 to 15 continued to study in this school.

“We continue to be proud of our association with our partner NIDEK as they remain committed to improving the lives of people around the world,” stated Gerard Santinelli, president and CEO of Santinelli International.
