Limbal Transportation After Alkai Burn Eye Surgery Video

This video shows the surgical reconstruction of the ocular surface after severe injury of an alkali burn to the eye. A 17 year old boy was injured from caustic soda in his right eye. He developed total stem cell deficiecny, severe scarring of the entire ocular surface, with complete obliteration of the upper and lower fornices.

The surgery included removal of the scar tissue, reconstruction of the upper and lower fornices, application of Mitomycin C, and autologous limbal transplantation from the contra-lateral healthy eye.
