PLEASANTON, Calif., November 2016 Since the launch of LensFerry® S, the first-of-its-kind subscription-based ordering service for 1-day contact lens wearers, eye care practices have been steadily adopting the service—and seeing real results. In just six months, users have reported up to a 20% increase in 1-day annual supply sales in their practices and more than 25% increase in average selling price of an annual supply of lenses.
First introduced in April by EyeCare Prime®, a subsidiary of CooperVision, Inc., LensFerry® S allows participating practices to enroll 1-day contact lens wearers in the service, which divides the annual cost of 1-day lenses into automatic monthly payments and quarterly lens deliveries. LensFerry® S includes contact lenses from all manufacturers at eye care professionals’ specified prices, and the prescribing practice receives the sales revenue as if the lenses had been paid for in-office.
“As an independent practice, we have certainly felt pressure from online sales of contact lenses, glasses, and now exams,” said Joanne Hendrick, OD, of Chapel Hills Vision Clinic in Colorado Springs, Co. “LensFerry® S helps us compete for the annual supply purchase. We’ve been offering the service to our patients, and it has broad appeal. Managing cash flow, whether it’s for an individual, a family, or our own practice is crucial. Enrolling patients is very simple, and the entire process works easily.”
According to multiple practices, patients are expressing their satisfaction in the ease and simplicity of ordering their annual supply with convenient payment terms, all from their own eye doctor.
LensFerry® S is available to all eye care practices in the United States. It costs $49 per month, plus $2.50 per shipment. For every completed patient annual subscription through LensFerry® S, EyeCare Prime® makes a donation to Optometry Giving Sight for an eye exam.
