Harney Garden Party Will Benefit Prevent Blindness SALISBURY—The last days of summer will receive a gentle farewell Wednesday night when John and Elyse Harney host a garden party for Prevent Blindness Tri-State at their home on East Main Street. Light refreshments and hors d’oeurves will be served and Prevent Blindness will provide free vision screening for the guests. The Harneys, owners of Harney & Sons teas, have been supporters of Prevent Blindness Tri-State since May2007, when they kicked off the “Sip for Sight Campaign,” which donates 20 percent of the proceeds of the sale of Celebration Citron Green Tea to support Tri-State’s eye health, wellness and education programs.
“It took us about a year to put together the first event because first we had to make a tea choice,” said Prevent Blindness president and CEO Kathryn Garre-Ayars. Read full article here
Those headlines caught my eye and I thought what a great idea. In the optical industry there are so many saving sight organizations why not collaborate with one of them and have a garden party.
Even if you don’t have a garden at your office, you can make a garden in your office or even in the parking lot. I bet if you asked the local nursery to donate or loan plants to ‘make a garden’ it could be an eye catching and rewarding event.
Be sure to ask your vendors if they want to contribute by use of Co-op advertising, prize donations, raffle items!
