Eco Eyeglass Sculpture By Sorin Oncu

A couple of months ago we did a post on 10 Eyewear Sculptures, as I was updating our Facebook photo Album The Art of Eyewear- I came across these eyeglass sculptures from the ECO project by Serbian born Sorin Oncu

Those who enter the Emerald City must wear green glasses” Guardian of the Gates – Wizard of OZ

From the Artist: ‘Emerald City Glasses is an installation that refers to the manipulation of  people in believing that the urban environment like Timisoara is far more greener that it really is. But this nonsense is in fact an consensus between the people who prefer parking places than parks and the city authorities unable to respond to a better quality of life in urban environment.’

This is his site, you can find more information on the project here:

From Sorin Oncu Site:”Eco” contains a series of works that have been most commonly made of materials that pollute the environment. These materials, rarely properly managed as waste, end up affecting communities around one of the largest Romanian cities, Timisoara. The project addresses wide issues that concern environmental protection, including recycling, reusing, reducing, the lack of responsibility and the significance of water, air and soil quality for life conditions in urban areas. The anti-romantic and non poetic discourse of the “eco” series is an expression of the subversive attitude towards earlier approaches to nature which concentrated in exploring the visual qualities of landscape in Timisoara, but ignored the reality of environmental issues.
