June 5 is National Doughnut Day. One of my favorite foods, yet so fattening and bad for you. My question is: Do you spell it donut or doughnut? Do we really care? Today we are introducing the Doughnut Eye Chart!
Some little known Facts about doughnuts: According to Wikipedia,
- Canada has declared doughnuts at the ‘unofficial national food’.
- Per capita, the largest concentration of doughnut shops in the world exist in Canada, and Japan has the second-highest concentration per capita. Per capita, Canadians eat the most doughnuts compared to all world countries
- In the United States, the Providence metropolitan area was cited as having the most doughnut shops per capita (25.3 doughnut shops per 100,000 people) as of January 13, 2010
- According to Sally Levitt Steinberg’s The Donut Book, over 10 billion donuts are consumed every year in the United States alone. During World War 1, French volunteers served American soldiers doughnuts to remind them of home.
