National Doughnut Day is coming up on June 2. This day can be a delicious way to have fun with patients and staff. Try some of of the creme filled ideas:

- Have patients send in pictures of them ‘wearing Donuts as eyeglasses post on Social Media.
- Have a Donut Trivia count down on Facebook
- Offer Donuts that day to anyone that walks in the door

1.) Doughnut Day is one of the oldest national holidays, created in 1938 by the Salvation Army in Chicago to honor those members who served donuts to soldiers during World War I

4.) French donuts were called Pet de Nonne”, which translates to “Nun’s Farts.”

6.) One of the most filmed donut shops is Randy’s Donuts. Randy’s Donuts have appeared in movies such as Earth Girls are Easy (1988), Get Shorty (1995), The Golden Child (1986), Crocodile Dundee (1986), and Iron Man 2 (2010).
7.) Clark Cable in the movie ‘It Happened One Night’ showed audiences how to properly dunk a donut. “Dunking’s an art, Don’t let it soak so long. A dip and—plop, into your mouth. If you let it soak so long, it’ll get soft and fall off. It’s all a matter of timing. I ought to write a book about it.”
8.) Is is Doughnut or Donut? Apparently it can be both, since Dunkin Donut popularized the name.
9.) Speaking of names, there are 13 people in the USA that first names are Donut.
10.) The largest Donut every made was a jelly donut weighing 1.7 tons. It was around 16 feet in diameter and 16 inches high in the center.
