Celebrating Arbor Day With Over 100 Wood Eyewear Companies

In Celebration of Arbor Day April 24, we are updating our annual list of Wood Eyewear Companies. That sector of the eyewear market continues to grow. No pun intended.  In fact, this is most likely about half of the Wood Eyewear companies today in the market. Many are making sunwear on Etsy, you have a few in China and then there are the capsule collections from various designers. This year we are including some bamboo companies who call themselves ‘Wood’ eyewear. Technicality speaking bamboo is a grass not a wood.

Bamboo to a certain extent is eco-friendly, as it grows very fast. But if not sustainability harvested, deforestation has killed off many of the Panda population. Pandas are an endangered species.

Wood is a natural material and it is very eco friendly especially when the materials re-used, up cycled,  reclaimed or sustainably sourced, using FSC certified forests. Quite a few companies are off-setting their carbon footprint by giving back and or planting trees for every frame sold.
