The term Urban Warrior was coined in the late 1990 by the United States Marine Corp for Operation Urban Warrior. This was an exercise to test military operations on ‘Urbanized Terrain’, Since then Urban Warriors have come to mean people easily striding though concrete jungles without military accourement. In the urban jungle, the urban warrior is equipped with iPod, iPhone, IPad, Metro Cards, dressed well but casually. The Urban Warrior fights battles for their causes as well as parking. Gladiators were armed combatants who were entertainers in Rome, fighting wild animals, criminals and other gladiators. Today a Gladiator would be armed fighting corporate battles against unfriendly and competitive colleagues.
As Urban Warriors, fighting road rage, corporate takeovers, muggings and theft, we are featuring Urban Warrior Eyewear that will send a fierce message to our competitors and those who wish do do us harm.
Created by Candeo Studios, this modern uptake on Gladiator wear a features space age look, with a grill like helmut and wrapped protective lenses.
Mikita’s Take on this helmut accessories was worn by Lady Gaga and quite a few stars. The Pinhole lens look can either improve vision or protect the eyes from trash falling off truck, people throwing litter or just make a fashion statement.
The Crusader is a take from another type of warrior, the crusaders, who decided that they needed to spread the Christian Word in the east. Passionate about their cause (and what has changed in the MidEast), the iron mask protects the face with a cross-eyes. This would not have not been out of place 300 years ago.
A vintage Christian Audigier Gladiator Sunglasses features grillwork and a crest on the side. This is more indicative of the crusaders with the crest. Not too cutthroat looking, but you can still get the angry behind the mask.
The Armor plated look by Linda Farrow and KTZ, several years ago looks more like an armored truck. The bold look makes a strong and macho statement.
Linda Farrow again with designer Jeremy Scott, updates the football helmet into an urban statement. Powerful mesh sides with re-inforced metal banding across the forehead and nose, make this Urban Warrior ready to kick off.
Parasite Eyewear, limited edition Gladiator radiates a threatening presence. Diamond shaped eye-holes surrounded by laser cut metal give an appearance the daily battle. Wear this to your next meeting.. wonder what would happen. Or walking at late at night alone, who would dare to approach you?
J.F. Rey, Limited Edition Gladiator Look is not just bold, it is extremely wearing with any type of lenses. Grillwork, nose protector, makes this an intense look. Wear this when looking for a seat on your local mass transportation.
Two styles from Gentle Monster feature intricate lazer engraving, mesh nose protector, studs and the pointy fronts.. make for a bloodthirsty look. With those studs, I wouldn’t get too close, which is probably what it is all about.
Maybe KTZ has a fixation with Urban Guerrillas. This look from the Fall Winter 2014 Collection is part futuristic, part visor and part warrior. Strapped by a visor type of band, nose protector and with 180 degree vision.
Linda Farrow and KTZ put the Urban into Warrior again with their Spring Summer 2015 collection. KTZ whole runway show was about Urban warriors.
Maybe you just want to wear some studded chain mail. These Chain Mail Specs are perfect for the coy female who want to remain a tad mysterious.
