Did you know that experts suggest babies have eye exams shortly after birth to check for vision problems or signs of disease? Babies with eyeglasses are as young as four months old. (I was not aware of this although I am sure you Eye Care Professionals are aware of it.) I came across a website dedicated to the subject of babies with eyeglasses: babieswithglasses.org. This looks to me like a very good resource for both the eyewear provider and parents of very young children needing vision correction. There is a lot of advise about products and the challenges of keeping glasses on babies’ faces!
It also occurs to me that some parents may not be aware of the need to have their baby’s vision checked at such an early age and are all pediatricians are making sure that this happens? At least the optical industry has the opportunity to ensure that this information is made available to parents and future parents.
ClearVision Optical has been a long term provider of babies with eyeglasses and children’s eyewear for many years with their Fisher Price Eyewear, designed by pediatric optical specialists, and Koodles Eyewear brands.
