Optiblog Grog – Independence Day
Written by Shirley on July 2, 2009 – 7:30 am -I was looking for an Optiblog Grog – Independence Day, July 4th celebration drink and ironically enough came across this one which is actually called Rule Britannia, double ironic for me as I am a Brit! However, as it can easily be adapted to a red white and blue drink I think it can be renamed Independence Day. It is unusually pretty and clever, but it requires a few hours of forward planning to get these blue ice cubes ready in time. They melt quickly too.

Serves:1
Blue Curacao
1/4 measure Campari
1/2 measure Vodka
1/4 measure pink grapefruit juice
Clear ice
1. Make blue ice cubes with 1-2 tbsp water and 1-2 tsp Curacao – freeze these well in advance
2. Shake the rest of the ingredients together well over ice
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and add a blue and a clear (white) ice cube immediately before serving
