eyeRead – The Horse Boy By Rupert Isaacson

The Horse Boy By Rupert Isaacson

Normally I wouldn’t read this type of book, but the reviews were good, so of course the avid reader that I am just had to read it. The Horse Boy: A Father’s Quest to Heal His Son was excellent and I recommend for anyone, whether you have a child or not. It’s about a father who has an autistic kid and his search to ‘heal his son’ but really to get his 5 year old son toilet trained. He discovers his son’s affinity with horses and that led off to a search by van and horses  for Shaman’s in outer Mongolia.

After reading this book and learning more about autism, I will never again roll my eyes at kids in public who are having tantrums and wonder why parents can’t control their kids. It really brought to mind you never know what someone else is going through and never, never prejudge people.

For those who love to travel and seek adventure, you will definitely want to visit Outer Mongolia on horseback and visit sacred springs and lakes, meet shamans and if lucky be invited to participate in cultural programs.

I can bet you there will be a movie as well, but don’t wait, it’s a great read and a real eye-opener.
