I don’t know if any of you were able to read the book , Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously (Amazon book)
it was excellent! I then had the opportunity to watch the movie Julie & Julia [Blu-ray] (Amazon DVD) it was great as well, although I preferred the book. The book hit me more so than the movie not just because it was about a blog, but more because the persistence, the melt downs, the frustrations and most of all the commitment to her readers.
Bottom line- I got inspired- In the book, Julie gets up every morning at 5:30 am to write about her cooking experience, she comes home every nite and cooks, she shops for specific foods that you can’t get at the neighborhood grocery store, all while holding down a job. But her persistence and determination despite all of that got her a book and a movie and her dream job of becoming a writer.
Isn’t this the American Dream? How many times have we had a great idea and haven’t done anything about it? How many times have we had a great idea only to give it up in it’s infancy? How many times have we said, I don’t have time? Julie had a great idea to start a blog- and at the time, no one knew what a blog was (and many still don’t) started an expensive endeavor (all that food and butter) gave it one year and through fits and starts completed a project to great success.
Moral of the story- Hang in there, success will come to you if you are persistent and have an end goal.
For those who are not into reading traditional motivational books, I highly recommend this easy and fun read.
