I used to have a monocle a few years ago until I lost it. I am short sighted and do not like wearing glasses to walk around it and don’t want to try contacts. However I have good enough vision to get around comfortably, but struggle with e.g. train time boards, signposts, fast food menus above kitchen. A monocle allows you to see these things without having to wear glasses plus they are more portable.

I think people are buying the monocles as a fashion statement, they aren’t really that practical…surely? Great blog tho!

You may also want to add Berkshire Chase to your list of suppliers.

It wouldn’t be hard at all for a good optician to make these. A peice of gold filled eyewire, a jump ring, barrels and screw to close it. Most are 38mm diameter.
