Urban Optiques Vision And Eyewear Website and blog is one of the most impressive I have seen. Located in Northville, Michigan, this upscale eyeglass retailer consistently shows up in search engines- meaning they show up in our Google Alerts.
In particular I love their Visionista blog. They have showcased eyewear as a fashion accessory along with clothing. As an example ‘ Steal This Look: Beach Chic Featuring The Chloe Tilia Sunglass’. What they have done is taken the Chloe sunglass and made a ‘fashion accessory in a box’ in which any person can visualize what eyewear looks good with their wardrobe.
This is a great example of using an affiliate program to show off your products (see ‘Should you Join an Affiliate Program’) For more looks on what you can to mix and match eyewear and accessories check out a top fashion blog Polyvore.com
Here’s is what I love, the categories are actually the products they carry. Note key words, designer sunglasses, designer eyewear (great for search engines.) But I also like the Designer Sunglass of The Week category, adds a little excitement for true Visionista’s !
So if you are looking to build a website or red0 your website or even thinking of adding a blog, you might check out Urban Optiques site with a blog inside the website. Great information, search engine friendly and lots of cool reading .

Cathy,
Thank you for the VERY nice blog post about Urban Optiques. We’re flattered and extremely appreciative.
We put a lot of love and attention into our website, the Visionista Blog, our clients and choosing the eyewear brands we think deserve our business.
We have managed to carve out a nice niche for ourselves selling extremely high-quality eyewear from partners and manufacturers who understand that having your wares sold at $20 dollars above wholesale on some dirty discount website does zero to support your brand. Nor does it make people feel “special.”
We reward those brands who “get it” and kick the others to the curb. And we’ve done a fair amount of kicking this year.
Most of all, clients (and optometrists and opticians, for that matter) should never confuse “value” with “cost.”
A pair of $89 dollar frames from some major eyewear chain might seem like a bargain until you know that they cost $3.99 a piece and were made in China by a 14 year old who was paid 0.59 cents an hour to assemble them.
In other words, you just got screwed with a 22x marke-up on a frame that will likely break or fail in the first six months.
No thanks.
We charge more, because what we sell is better. Period.
Thanks again for the props. Truly appreciate it.

I love to wear fashion sunglasses and i always do some research to find best suits for me, hope this blog will save my time and i can able to find what i need!
Would like to add my perspective as a customer. Unfortunately, too many bad experiences too chalk up to an off day. My first visit, while filling out paperwork I was subjected to the desk assistant being horribly condescending and downright rude to someone on the phone. I was then treated to waiting 40 min past my appt time until seeing the doc, no apology from Dr Cardwell or her assistant. On my second follow up visit, she did not have the equipment she needed to look at my eye properly and sent me to TLC in Ann Arbor. After an additional $425 to them, the issue was nothing at all. She knew I did not have insurance and therefore could not purchase my contacts after the $600 bill between her and TLC so I waited until I could afford it again. When I called to get my contact prescription, I was told I would have to pay an additional $45 since it had been six months. Bottomline: rude service, Dr. Caldwell is not overly friendly, over priced frames (found the Lanvin ones I wanted elsewhere for half what Urban Optiques was charging!), if there is anything out of the ordinary they are ill equipped to examine it and finally, they are not understanding to the uninsured. Beware!!
Great articles on the website. I visit it often, thank you.
One of the most important items aside from the prescription eyewear is how the eyewear fits with the individuals lifestyle and fashion tastes period. This should always be considered, the person’s way of life and look, so it’s very important when choosing eyewear that match the mood of fashion.
