Email, VoiceMail, Texting, Cell Phone- we are just inundated with communication. One of my pet peeves is long rambling- no get to the point emails. I don’t know about you, but sometimes it seems that people would rather email or text rather than just picking up the phone to get a quick answer.
That said- Here is some Do’s and Don’ts of Email Writing
Subject Line- Few words and what the email is all about
- If Action is required but it in the subject line and a date that it is due
Keep it Short- (no more than 200 words)
- If you are responding to questions- put your answers in color after the question.
Keep it simple
- Say your point up front- don’t put it in at the bottom of the message. People usually only read the first paragraph
Spell Check
- Especially important if texting
Don’t forget the please and thank you
