I plan on seeing the new digitized lenses that Pixel and Aspex have introduced, I would love to get some more info on those. As always, I love to see new frames and designs that haven’t hit the catalogs or stores yet. There are a few new designers that I am interested in maybe adding to my inventory.

  2. Dawn Rakich, OD says:

Since Vision Expos are so BIG, I go always looking for things that are new that I would not see if I weren’t there. We always go looking for a new frame line that is current and possibly exclusive to us, a least at first. There is no better place to see accessories that at Vision Expo. Catalogs just don’t do them justice. There are always new lenses being introduced. I saw the PIXEL prototype lens at Expo East and I hope they will be introducing the lens at Expo West. That will be BIG! Expo’s are the best way to see any equipment that I may be thinking about purchasing, even if it’s not purchased there. There’s so much to see, that I find that I don’t have enough time to do it all! And don’t forget the education….!!!!

  3. Rose Ocampo says:

very excited on seeing diferent lines of glasses from all over the world. And training on digital lenses.

  4. squeakcat says:

I just want to go to one of them once before I die!! Given a chance I would spend most of my time around the lens and equipment manufacturers. Could be a lot of fun for a crotchety old worn out lab tech.

  5. Fernando Chen, OD says:

I want to see better food being served!!! I enjoy walking and spending time with all the exhibitors but when I’m hungry, there’s nothing good to eat.

  6. DAVID CLARKE says:

is there anyone that can make a clear lens that is polarized?

  7. Katharine Tang says:

I would like to see iZon lenses be presented at VE. I think their lenses are a great product. I would also like to see how all digitally surfaced lenses compare to one another. A nice comparison between the major lens competitors would be nice for opticians.

  8. miss_specs says:

I love to see the new glasses trends. As someone who works in conservative Middle America, i love seeing the new styles that everyone will be wearing in the near future, and getting a jump start at having them. I kind of think of it as the fashion Week of the Optical World.

  9. I used to go to see new or updates to products and services we can use in our office. I still go for that reason.
But now the main reason I go is to meet and talk with many of the great people we have in this industry. I always leave recharged and motivated by these discussions.

  10. whasaw says:

I would love to see show specials that allow attendees to purchase single frames on site at reduced prices. Sometimes we want to wear something new ourselves and the doc wearing your product when seeing patients or even around town is pretty good advertising.

  11. Christopher Nixon says:

I enjoy attending Vision Expo West, this will be my 10th year! I loved all CE faculty and Instructors who helped me improve my Optical shop way of business in all aspects. I have to give a special thanks to my mentor, Phernell Walker (AS/ ABOM/ NCLE/ President Pure Optics)
His articles, lectures and Pure Optics book enhanced my skills as an Optician. He is indeed the expert in advanced geometric and applied Optics! Looking forward to attending his Software Solutions CE in October!

  12. I would love to have more voucher for freeform lenses from Zeiss, Shamir, and Hoya. I plan on checking into more Marchon frame. I plan on attending the Marchon Party, I also plan on attending a few classes.

  16. Renee Adams, O.D. says:

I go for the CE and for introduction to new products and services. I would really like to see a symposium/panel of management consultants taking all types of questions from an audience. As a new practice owner, my biggest challenge is in organizing and growing a new company.

  17. BARRY RAINES says:

When Major players in the optical business deem Vision Expo not worth their time(or money)it makes me rethink my need to be there, too. The airline tickets from New York to Vegas are up over 30%. So, for the first time since 2000(yes, still went to Vegas in 2001 even though VEW was cancelled) we are not going to VEW. Last years speakers left a lot to be desired. There was a lot of empty space on the show floor. I’ll be in the caribbean this October.
Oh, and when all the Marcolin reps came walking in to VEE from their hotel suite I started wondering if VEE is worth my time, either.
Luckily, its just the cost of parking.

  18. Nicole Esqueda, OD says:

I’m looking forward to seeing new lab equipment. I’m interested in adding an edger to my office and am hoping to find one that will fit in a small area.

  19. Melissa Sibal says:

I would like to see The American Board of Optometry give a crash course on what to expect on their ABO and Advance ABO certification exam. And It would be a good opportunity, for people studying the book, to ask questions.

i would like to see new ways on how to improved our optical business by providing new knowledge and update us to new technology in our profession.looking forward for much better year than last year

  21. Striderswife says:

It’s been years since I’ve been to Expo, and I’m hoping to go maybe next year. Certainly the education was beneficial, but I really loved the exhibit floor. It was exciting and intriguing to see so many vendors showing all their wares. I liked being able to pick up information about new products, and bring that all back to the office to discuss what would work for us. And don’t forget the loot! I’ve got a box of souvenirs from the two times I’ve been.

  22. Anthony Tice says:

I Love Vision Expo I go about every other year to try and get updated on the latest lens technologies and frame styles. The CE courses are the best but I would love to see a Expo planner with the material given. My wife accuse me of not knowing how to shop because last time we went it was really hard to have a plan of attack on what I wanted to see. The CE courses are laid out beautifully but I wish for the Expo Hall there a planner guide just like the planner guide that Disney world has. It would help to have that ahead of time so I could maximize my time there.

  23. Jairo says:

optical & casino, isn’t that a nice combination? for work and pleasure, isn’t that a nice combination? I wouldn’t miss it!

  24. Amber says:

My office would like to find information on adjusting glasses. It would be helpful to get some tips for hard to fit patients.

  25. Kathi Hungate says:

I look forward to Vision Expo. But I have found that as soon as a vendor finds out that you don’t do the actual buying they more times then not they want to ignore you.Big mistake,I do the pre-buying for my manager so be careful who you ignore.

  26. Heather Mong says:

I’m really excited about seeing all the new and exsisting frames. I look forward to seeing Ed Hardy if they are there this year. I like to check out all the new equipment for the ofice as well. The show just has so much stuff to see and there is so much to learn. This is the best show I have been to and look forward to it every year.

To me, the most important thing to have a successful business (practice)is “marketing”. It would be nice to have many more business courses that address this. Also it would be nice to bring in more outside experts to teach these courses.

  30. Vincent De Francisco says:

I would like to be able to bring my iPad to convention and get the latest optical news, sales, special promotions, lectures, etc. sent to me electronically by open wifi. This would help me to stay current with the happenings at convention, namely dates and times when special events will be held, as well as communicating with vendors and possibly ordering electronically with them. It would also be advantageous to have lecture notes, PowerPoint material wifi accessible on the iPad for the lectures.

  34. Maria says:

Hi,Coming to Las Vegas is always an exciting and rewarding event- going to shows and gambling after a long day in conference halls and exhibits. This time I would like to see or even get follow ups on implants for patients who decided to do that procedure instead of corrective surgery.

  35. eric Lunchick says:

I go to the expo to shop for new frames, supplies, cases, displays. I like to be able to walk around once-see all the vendors I may be interested in. I can scout out frame companies I don’t currently have accounts with. I can look thru their products without pressure or feeling obligated[like I might when they come to my office]. Then I return the next day to the companies that have appealed to me the most to make my purchases[same for cases, equipment, displays, etc]

  36. Stacy Palm says:

I am totally psyched to see the new products and new lens demos! We are building a new office this year and can’t wait to see the latest in office designs and display trends! Plus, as a newbie optician the classes get me really excited to work with my patients and try all the new techniques I have learned.

  37. carl says:

More classes on proper coding and PQRI

  38. Vicki Bowers says:

Always lots to learn at Vision Expo West. The
continuing education, the exhibits. I have attended every year since the early 80′s. This year I am looking forward to checking out the frames from a new company “Eyes of Faith”

  39. Jon Marshall says:

I will be attending the Vision Expo West to look at the latest and greatest laboratory equipment. As a lab manager I feel it is important to keep on-top of lens processing technology. Plus it is really fun to look at brand new machinery and wish you had millions of dollars to invest into the digital surfacing revolution.

  40. David Dixon says:

I will be looking for the unique and different. Not, usually found at VEW. If you go to NY, or Paris and most definitely Mido, you will find unique and different. This show needs to add alot more of the upstarts. When we would go to mido we could find things to set us apart. We need this in the west without flying to Italy.

  41. alan kirsch says:

  44. Ron Gelfman, A.B.O.M. says:

I have attended Vision Expo West EVERY year, [and sometimes Expo EAST, as well!], since BEFORE it was called “EXPO” . They USED to call it “OPTIFAIR”. I unavoidably missed last year [the ONLY time in over 25 years!], and I regret it. It is,quite simply, the BEST and ONLY place to see everyone’s wares [frames, equipment, tools, etc.] in ONE CONVENIENT PLACE. Add to that a great selection of C/E’s, and it is unsurpassed.

  45. I would like to see a course for my manager that has to do with human resouce and do’s and don’ts of how to interview, hire and fire employees from a human resource perspective.

  46. rafi says:

i want to see good quality lenses, in cheap price.so, all over the people in the world will be able to use lenses if they need one.

  47. Linda Chalem says:

I love going to the International Vision Expo so I can be surrounded by all the wonderful people in our industry!
It’s like being at one huge block party where everyone, in the ‘hood, can benefit from all the ideas and information that is available from every view point.
The booths dazzle the eye and the excitement of “what’s new” is like a B-12 shot to the senses!
Vegas is especially exciting because the convention hall seems more “intimate” than in New York and no one cares what time it is-except those that have to get to class!
A fantastic booth to visit is the Kliik Denmark
vendor. The Kliik collection, for the petite person, won the Vision Choice Award at the VEW show when it first debuted in the U.S. from Canada. Fysh and Evatik are unique fashionable frames with designs that have appeal to every age group.
Everyone at the booth has always been very friendly-to buyers and non-buyers alike!!

  48. Crystal says:

This is my second time for visiting VEW in Vegas. I am very excited to see whats new for next year in our Profession. We have advanced so much with frames and I love the fashion that has been incorporated with eyewear. We are no longer just looking after vision needs but we are also fashion consultants. I believe the more we are educated on product materials and fashion for today, is such a benefit. I am looking forward to taking in some seminars from some spectacular people and visiting the booths. I am anticipating a great show!!!
