The Charm industry- you see them dangling from backpacks, badge holders, key chains, hair ornaments, purses and now you can have your own eyeglass charms. I ran across this site  Ficklets- who make eyeglass charms for kids-what a cute idea to get kids to wear their glasses.

I double checked the Accessory- Wholesale vendor list at Optical Vision Resources- just to see if any of them offered eyeglass charms. Couldn’t find- although that doesn’t mean they don’t offer eyeglass jewelry- it means, I couldn’t find any charms. Of course, now I’m on a mission to see if anyone offers eyeglass charms for adults.

If I google charms (42,000,000+ hits) just to see what the market is- obviously it’s big! Here’s what I think:

1.) Add on sales are extremely profitable and not covered by insurance.

2.) Accessory sales such as charms and retainers make great gifts.

3.) Giving away with the purchase of … can lead to larger orders, 2nd pair sales.

4.) Offering cute things like eyeglass charms- can entice the patient to browse, exclaim, wow and  talk about you!

5.) Offering a selection of great accessory items- makes your eyecare office like a treasure hunt. People want to come in an see what your are carrying now.

6.) Providing a good selection of fun and unusual accessory items sets you apart from the competition.

7.) Eyecare Accessory items make good impulse sales.

8.) Eyecare Accessory items can help decorate your office and showcase your products.

So, whether it’s eyeglass charms, a good selection of quality and unique eyeglass cases, readers, eyeglass jewelry, retainers, lens cleaners and fun microfiber cleaning clothes- make the investment and the space and offer to your patients products that they can buy from you rather than Target!
